Church Re-wiring, installation of a new heating system and lighting from Monday November 25th. The Church will have to be closed until Christmas as there will be scaffolding. Of course this will be very disruptive but essential. Unfortunately our friends at the Methodist Chapel find they are also shrouded in scaffolding as the decorators have moved in. Thus we will be holding our services in the Village Hall- do come and join us there:

We are part of the Benefice of Puddletown- for which the vicar is Rev’d Sarah Hillman ( We have two church wardens- Hilly Cobban ( Julie Bonner and several sidesmen . The PCC secretary is Jayne Brayshaw (
Although a small church , we realize we are very important as a part of the village and the Martyrs and are thus anxious to keep the church in good repair as a historic monument as well as offering an active spiritual space. The church is open every day from dawn til dusk and offers peace and tranquility.

Services are held every Sunday- currently the programme is a s follows
1st Sunday- 9.30 Parish Communion
2nd Sunday- 9.30 Joint Methodist Service (normally in the church but three times a year in the Methodist Chapel
3rd Sunday- 9.30 Family Communion
4th Sunday 9.30- Go Fourth- a short informal service with a band followed by coffee.

There is also a brief Morning Prayer led by our Vicar at 8.15 every Thursday

Our Parochial Church Council ( PCC) holds meetings four times a year and discuss such matters as the fabric of the church , the churchyard, etc. We have a very active Events Committee and hold several events each year as we have to raise in the region of £20,000 which includes our running costs and our “share” to the Diocese (this is in the region of £12,00 pa)

Sadly last year we had to abandon our plans to re- roof the leaking church as our applications for grants were turned down. However we are now faced with the prospect of major electrical work as our last regular electrical inspection identified serious problems- indeed we had to close the church for a weekend for urgent safety work. We have launched the Sparks Appeal to raise the necessary funds for this- we will need approximately £38,000.

To this end we held a very successful Midsummer party, which raised a magnificent sum and are currently planning future events. We so appreciate generous help from the village- and are always looking for further volunteers!

We also hold a regular Coffee and Chat in the church on the second Thursday of every month- from 10.30-12- all welcome.
